Looking Up Members

After selecting a service, you arrive at the member lookup screen. This is where you search for your family so you can check in. The app supports searching by phone number or by name.

Before You Begin

Search Modes​

The lookup screen offers two search modes. You can switch between them by tapping the toggle at the top of the screen:

  • Phone -- Search by phone number. This is the default mode.
  • Name -- Search by name.

Searching by Phone Number​

  1. Make sure Phone is the active search mode (it is highlighted at the top).
  2. Tap the search field and enter at least 4 digits of your phone number using the on-screen keypad.
  3. Tap the Search button or press the search key on the keyboard.

The app searches for members whose phone number matches the digits you entered. If you enter more than 4 digits, it uses the full number. If you enter exactly 4, it matches against the last 4 digits of phone numbers on file.

Searching by Name​

  1. Tap the Name toggle at the top of the screen to switch to name search mode.
  2. Enter at least 2 characters of the person's name in the search field.
  3. Tap the Search button.

The app searches for members whose name matches what you typed.

Selecting a Person​

Search results appear as cards below the search field. Each card shows the person's name and photo (if one is on file).

Tap a person's card to select them. The app loads all members of that person's household and takes you to the household review screen.

Searching by the last 4 digits of a phone number is the fastest way to look up your family. Encourage members to use this method for a quicker check-in experience.

If no results are found, the app displays a message letting you know. Double-check the digits or name you entered, or try the other search mode. If you are a first-time visitor, ask a volunteer for help getting added to the system.

Registering as a Guest​

If your church has QR guest registration turned on, a Register as guest link appears below the search on the lookup screen. First-time visitors can use it to add their family to the church's system before checking in.

  1. Tap Register as guest. A window opens with a QR code and the message "Scan to register as a guest."
  2. Choose how to fill in the guest registration form:
    • On your phone -- Scan the QR code, fill in the form on your phone, and tap OK to close the window.
    • On the kiosk -- Tap Register here to open the same form right on the tablet. Fill it in and tap Register, then tap Done (or the back arrow) to return to the lookup screen.
  3. Once registered, search for your family by name or phone number to check in.

The form opened with Register here stays on the guest registration page -- visitors can't browse to other parts of the church website from the kiosk. If no one touches or types in the form for 2 minutes, the kiosk closes it and returns to the lookup screen. Each time the form closes, anything typed into it is cleared so the next family starts with a blank form.

Printing Labels for a Phone Check-In​

Families who already checked in on their phone through B1 Church self check-in can print their name tags at the kiosk without looking themselves up.

  1. On the lookup screen, tap the Scan code button (the QR code icon).
  2. Hold the QR code from your phone up to the camera. If the app asks for camera access, tap Allow Camera. The front camera is used by default; tap the flip button to switch.
  3. The kiosk finds the check-in and prints the labels, then returns to the lookup screen.

Scanning only prints labels -- the attendance was already recorded when the family checked in on their phone. If the code doesn't match an active check-in, the kiosk shows a message and returns to the lookup screen.
