Groups
Groups are a great way to get connected with others at your church. Whether you are looking for a small group, a ministry team, a Bible study, or a volunteer opportunity, you can browse and join groups directly from your church's B1.church site.
What You Can Do
Here is what you can do with groups in B1App:
- Browse public groups -- View all available groups organized by category. Each group shows a photo, name, meeting time, location, and a brief description.
- View group details -- Click any group to see its full description, leaders, and upcoming calendar events.
- Join groups -- Connect with a group to become a member. Open groups let you join immediately; groups with approval required let you submit a join request. See Requesting to Join a Group.
- Participate in conversations -- Once you are a member of a group, you can post messages and interact with other group members in the group chat -- tap Open chat on the group page.
- Access events and resources -- See the group's next event (tap All events for the full calendar) and download shared files or links from the Resources section.
Public vs. Logged-In Experience
Anyone can visit your church's groups page and browse the available groups. Visitors who are not logged in can view group descriptions, see who the leaders are, and check upcoming calendar events. To join a group, visitors click Sign in to join and sign in or create an account.
When you log in and are a member of the group, the group detail page shows more sections: Next event, Meetings, Messages, Members, Resources, Plans, and About. Some sections only appear when they apply -- for example, About needs a group description, Plans needs serving plans, and Messages needs group chat turned on. Each section shows a preview, with a link such as All members or All events to open the full list. Group leaders have extra editing capabilities in these views.
Meetings lists the group's recent meetings, newest first, with the leader's note for each one and how many people were there. Members who missed a week can catch up here. Group leaders, and staff who can take attendance, see Add note and Take attendance in the section header. Add note posts a short note for any date, including a future meeting, and notes can include bold text, lists, and links. The Attendance screen has the same Notes box under the date, so the recap can be written while taking attendance. Tapping a meeting opens its attendance. See Meeting Notes and Attendance.
Group leaders also see a Leader notes section: a private feed where the group's leaders can keep notes that members and church staff don't see. See Leader Notes.
Group conversations live in each group's chat, your groups appear in the Your groups section of the Home dashboard, and your groups' upcoming events show up on the Me page. New activity that needs your attention arrives as a notification in the bell menu.
