Curated Calendar

A curated calendar aggregates events from multiple groups into one unified calendar view. This is ideal for creating a church-wide calendar that shows everything happening across all your ministries and groups in a single place.

Before You Begin

  • Set up the groups whose events you want to include
  • Ensure group leaders have added events to their respective groups
  • Familiarize yourself with the basics of Creating Calendars

Creating a Curated Calendar

  1. In B1 Admin, open the Jump menu (the search bar at the top-left), expand Calendars, and click Calendars.
  2. Click Add Calendar to create a new curated calendar.
  3. Give your calendar a name (for example, "Church Events" or "This Week at Our Church").
  4. Click Create to save it.

Adding Groups to Your Calendar

  1. Click Manage Events on your new calendar to open it.
  2. Click Add Group above the calendar. Groups you add appear in the Groups in Calendar list on the left side of the page.
  3. Select a group from the dropdown menu. Every group in your church is listed, including groups you are not a member of.
  4. Choose whether to add all events from that group or only specific events.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Repeat this process to add as many groups as you want to include.

Each event is listed once, even if you added it on its own and also added its whole group. The Groups in Calendar list shows only groups added with all of their events.

To take something off the calendar, click the event and choose Remove from Calendar. The event stays in its group. If the event came from a whole group, removing it removes all of that group's events from this calendar.

Sharing Your Calendar

Once your curated calendar is set up, you can share it in several ways:

  • Embed on your website -- Add a Calendar element to a page to show the calendar as a month grid or as tiles of upcoming events, optionally limited to events with one tag. Each event links to its own page on your site. See Using the Calendar element.
  • Subscribe via ICS -- Click Subscribe to copy the ICS link. Your congregation can paste this link into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook, or any other calendar app to stay in sync.
  • Download the ICS file -- Download the calendar file to import it into a calendar application.

When group leaders add new events to their groups, those events automatically appear in your curated calendar. You do not need to manually update the curated calendar each time a new event is added.

Private events

Only public events appear on the curated calendar on your website and in its ICS subscription. In B1 Admin, staff who can edit content also see the group's private events on the curated calendar, so you can check the full schedule while you put the calendar together.
