Presenting and Exporting WorshipCommons Songs

WorshipCommons can put a song's lyrics on a screen straight from your browser, with nothing to install. If your church already uses presentation software, download the song's slides for FreeShow, OpenLP, ProPresenter, or PowerPoint instead, or add the song to your B1 Admin song library.

Before You Begin

  • Open the song's page on worshipcommons.org. See Finding Songs.
  • To show the lyrics on a TV or projector, connect your computer to it with an HDMI cable (or cast your screen).

Leading Worship from the Browser

Lead worship is a full-screen view that plays the music and shows the words line by line, highlighting each word as it's sung. It's built for a small group, a classroom, or a house church with no band.

  1. On the song page, click Lead worship. (The button appears when the song has music to play along with.)
  2. Choose the Key and Tempo. When the song plays a piano preview, you can pick Piano or Organ.
  3. Click Verses to choose which verses to sing and to change their order with the arrow buttons.
  4. Turn on Count-in if you want a count before the music starts.
  5. Click ▶ Play.

Use Blank to hide the words, Contrast for a high-contrast screen, and Fullscreen to fill the screen. Click Put this on the TV for quick steps to show it on a TV.

Projecting Lyrics

Open projector shows one section of lyrics per screen, and you move through them by hand. Use it when you have live musicians.

  1. On the song page, find the Projection panel and click Open projector.
  2. Press F or click Fullscreen to fill the screen.
  3. Click the screen, or press Space or the → key, to go to the next slide. Press ← to go back. Click a section name at the bottom to jump straight to it.
  4. Press B to blank the screen and H for high contrast.
  5. Press Esc (or click ← Back to song) when you're done.

The bottom bar shows the current section, the slide count, and what's next. The song's credit line appears on screen as well.

Exporting Slides

The Projection panel on the song page has a button for each tool. Click one to download the song:

ButtonWhat you get
FreeShowA show file to import into FreeShow
PowerPointA PPTX slide deck
OpenLPAn OpenLyrics file to import into OpenLP
ProPresenterA text file to import into ProPresenter
OnSong / PCOCopies the song to your clipboard to paste into OnSong or Planning Center

The note under the buttons tells you how the slides are split. If the song has an approved form map, slides follow it; otherwise slides follow the verses as written. Every export includes the song's attribution and license credit.

To export a whole set at once, in the keys and sections you chose, build a service plan and use the export buttons there.

Adding WorshipCommons Songs to B1

If your church plans services in B1 Admin, you don't need to download anything. Sunday-ready songs from WorshipCommons appear in B1 Admin's song search under WorshipCommons — free. Click one to add it to your song library, linked back to its WorshipCommons page.

See Songs in B1 Admin for the steps.
