Searching

When you know what topic you want to teach but are not sure which program or study contains it, the search feature helps you find the right content quickly. Search works across the programs, studies, and lessons in the Lessons.church library.

Before You Begin

  • Familiarize yourself with the Browsing Content overview to understand all available navigation options
  1. Click the search icon at the top of the Lessons.church site to open the search box.
  2. Type a keyword or phrase (for example, "forgiveness," "David and Goliath," or "prayer"). Matching results appear in a list below the box as you type -- click one to go straight to it.
  3. Press Enter to open the full search results page.

How Search Works

Search looks through the names, descriptions, categories, and age groups of every program, study, and lesson in the Lessons.church library. It also matches the start of a word, so "bapt" finds "baptism." Matches in a name count the most, and programs and studies rank slightly ahead of individual lessons. Content from external providers is not included in search results.

Each result is labeled as a program, study, or lesson, along with its age group when one is set. Studies show which program they belong to, and lessons show their study and program. Click any result to go directly to that page. A lesson page shows the full content, sections, roles, and downloadable materials.

Search is most useful when:

  • You have a specific Bible story or topic in mind and want to see all available curriculum that covers it.
  • You are planning a special series and need to find lessons on a particular theme.
  • You are not yet familiar with the available programs and want a quick way to explore what is offered.

Results that match more of your words rank higher. If the result you want is buried, add another specific word. For example, "Good Samaritan" moves the lessons about that parable to the top.

If you already know which program you want, browsing by program is usually faster. See Programs and Studies for details on navigating the content hierarchy.
