Walkthrough

  1. Using Google Chrome, go to admin.b1.church and sign in with your username and password.
  2. This will take you to the Dashboard, the B1.church Admin home page. It shows this week's service and who's checked in and serving, along with My tasks (your open tasks) and My Groups. Use the Jump menu (the search bar at the top-left, see below) to reach People, Donations, Website, and the rest of the app. Click the small church logo next to it to return to the Dashboard at any time.
  3. Open the Jump menu and choose Settings to set up your church's information, administrative roles, and other details.
  4. Click Edit in the Church Information section to set up your church information.
  5. Back on Sunday, click the question mark icon in the top right corner for help and tutorials.
  6. Click View Documentation to see a list of tutorials to help you get started with B1.church.
  7. Navigate back to the Dashboard and click the arrow next to your profile picture and choose Switch App.
  8. Choose Lessons.church to manage your church's online lessons and curriculum.
  9. Switch back to B1.church by clicking the arrow next to your profile picture and choosing Switch App again.
  10. You can now enter B1.church through the member portal or the admin portal. The member portal allows you to see how B1.church looks to your members, view your groups, and manage your personal donations.

Start with the Settings page to configure your church name, branding, and team permissions. This ensures everything else you set up will display correctly.

Getting Around with the Jump Menu

All of B1 Admin is reached from the Jump menu at the top-left of the header. Next to the small church logo (which takes you back to the Dashboard) is a search bar that shows where you are, such as Donations › Batches, along with a Ctrl K (or ⌘ K) hint.

Browsing sections and pages

  1. Click the search bar, or press Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on a Mac), or press / while you are not typing in a text field.
  2. The menu lists every section you have access to -- Dashboard, People, Donations, Serving, Sermons, Website, Calendars, Mobile, and Settings. The section you are in is already expanded and your current page is highlighted.
  3. Click a section to expand it and see its pages (for example, People contains People, Groups, Attendance, and Forms). Only one section is expanded at a time.
  4. Click a page to go there.

You can also use the keyboard: the Up and Down arrows move through the list, Right expands a section, Left collapses it, and Enter opens the highlighted item. Press Esc to close the menu without going anywhere.

In these docs, a step like "In the Jump menu, choose People > Groups" means open the Jump menu, expand People, and click Groups.

Searching

Instead of browsing, you can start typing as soon as the menu opens to jump straight to a person, group, plan, fund, or any admin page:

  1. Type a name or the page you want (for example, a person's name, "batches", "songs", or "my work").
  2. Results are grouped by type -- people, groups, plans, funds, and pages to jump to. Use the arrow keys to move between results and Enter to select one, or click a result with your mouse.

The search can also start common tasks. Type what you want to do and select it:

  • Create a page, Create a group, Set up FreeShow, or Set up FreePlay opens the matching quick setup wizard right where you are, without going back to the Dashboard.
  • Add a person opens the new person form.
  • Start check-in opens the check-in app.

The actions you see depend on your permissions.

Quick Actions

The last group in the Jump menu is Quick Actions -- the setup shortcuts that used to appear on the Dashboard. Expand it to find steps such as Add Your Church Logo, Create Your First Webpage, Set Up Online Giving, Create Your First Group, and Invite Team Members. Setup actions open their quick setup wizard the first time; once you have set that feature up, they take you to its page instead.

Searching is often the fastest way to reach a page -- type part of the page name (such as "roles" or "funds") instead of expanding Settings, Serving, or Donations by hand.
