Service Order
The service order defines the sequence of elements in your worship service. Use it to lay out everything from the opening song to the closing prayer, so your entire team knows the flow of the service ahead of time.
Before You Begin
- Create a service plan for the date you want to build a service order for
- Optionally, add songs to your library so you can link them directly into the service order
Accessing the Service Order
- Go to Serving and select your ministry.
- Click on a plan type, then open a specific plan.
- The Order of Service section is at the top of the plan page, above Serving Team Assignments.
Building Your Service Order
The service order is a list of items arranged in the sequence they will occur during the service. Common elements include:
- Worship songs
- Prayers
- Scripture readings
- Announcements
- Sermon or message
- Offering
- Closing
Adding Items to the Service Order
- In the Order of Service section, click Add and choose what to add: Add Section (a heading that groups items), Item (a custom item), Song (from your library), or Add From Lesson. You can also click Add Section directly.
- To add something inside a section, use the add menu on that section's header and choose Song, Item, or External Item.
- Enter the details for the item, such as the title and any notes.
- Click Save.
You can add songs directly from your Songs library. This links the song details, including lyrics and arrangements, to your service plan so your worship team has everything they need.
Importing Multiple Items from an External Provider
Choosing External Item (or Add From Lesson) opens a browser for your linked lesson providers instead of a single-item form. Browse (or search) into a provider's content, and check the box next to each section or action you want. The dialog tracks how many you have selected (for example, "3 selected") -- click Import (3) to add all of them to the service order at once, instead of repeating the add-item flow for each one.
Some providers, such as GO! Curriculum, Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive, deliver a lesson as a set of files (videos, slides, images) rather than sections. When you browse one of these in Add From Lesson, the files appear alongside the folders -- click a file to add it to the service order as its own item.
This is the fastest way to pull a whole lesson's worth of sections and cues into a service order in one pass, rather than adding each item individually.
Customizing a Linked Lesson
When a plan has a lesson linked to it, the order of service first shows a Lesson Preview of that lesson. Click Customize (or add a section, item, or song) to copy the lesson's sections into the plan so you can edit them. For lessons that are just a list of files, such as GO! Curriculum lessons, the files are grouped under a section named after the lesson, so you still have a section bar to add your own items into.
Reordering Items
Drag items by the handle on the left of each row to rearrange the order — drop onto the blue line where you want the item to land, or onto a section header to move it into that section. The sequence shown on screen is the order your team will follow during the service.
Editing a Lesson Section
Lesson and curriculum sections (for example, "Large Group" or "Engage 1") hold their own script lines, slides and videos. To change what is inside one, click the section in the service order. The section opens showing everything in it: spoken and instruction lines appear as full text marked Say, Do or Note, and slides or videos appear with a thumbnail.
- Click the x beside any line to take it out of your plan. It stays in the list, crossed out, with an arrow to put it back.
- Click any text to reword it. A reworded line offers restore original wording.
- Click Save. The section stays a single row in your service order, with a small label such as 6 of 8 items showing that you have customized it, and its running time updates.
Open the section again at any time to see your changes, put lines back, or choose Restore original section to undo all of them. Your edits only affect your plan -- the original lesson is never changed -- and they carry through to printed plans and to what your volunteers see.
If you need an item from the section as its own row (for example, to place a song between two lines), click the arrow at the right end of the section row to show its contents as separate rows. Click the arrow on the first of those rows to fold them back into one. This works the same way for content from any connected provider.
Volunteers assigned to an item show up next to it in the service order, so anyone reviewing the plan can see who's covering each part at a glance.
Timing and Media
Each item and section shows how long it runs and when it starts:
- If the plan has a single service time selected, the left rail shows the actual clock time each item starts (for example, 9:14 AM). Otherwise it shows elapsed time from the start of the service.
- Section headers total up the running time of everything inside them.
- Songs and custom items count toward this schedule once you enter Minutes/Seconds on the item's edit screen.
- Items you add from your media library (images or video clips) show a thumbnail and are timed automatically — a video's duration is measured from the file itself, while an image contributes a ~5:00 planning estimate (shown in italics) since it stays on screen until an operator advances it. You can still edit either one to a specific duration.
Editing and Removing Items
- Click on any item in the service order to edit its details.
- Use the delete option to remove an item from the order.
The service order is specific to each plan. Changes you make here only affect the selected plan and will not alter other plans or your song library.
Bulk Selecting and Deleting Items
To clear out several items in a section at once instead of deleting them one by one:
- Click Select items on the section header.
- Check the items you want to remove, or check Select all in section to grab everything directly under that section.
- Click Delete Selected and confirm.
- Click Done selecting to exit selection mode.
Bulk select only applies to a section's direct children, not items nested inside a sub-section folder.
Including Items in Specific Service Times
If your plan has more than one service time (for example, an 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. service), you can choose which services each item should appear in. This is useful when an announcement is only relevant to one service, or when a song is sung in one service but not another.
- Open a plan that has two or more service times. Click Times in the Serving Team Assignments section to see or add them.
- In the Order of Service section, click an item to edit it.
- Under Include in Services, you will see a checkbox for each service time, labeled with the time.
- Uncheck any service where the item should be skipped.
- Click Save.
By default, every item is included in every service. Excluded service times are hidden when you print the plan filtered to that service, so each service receives a clean run sheet with only the relevant items.
The Include in Services section only appears when the plan has more than one service time. If you only see one service, click Times in the plan's Serving Team Assignments section to add additional services first.
Showing a Different Position per Service
If an item has a Position set, each checked service time in Include in Services also gets its own Position for this service dropdown. Use it when the same section is covered by a different volunteer at each service -- leave it set to Same as above to keep the item's default position, or pick a different position to override it just for that service time.
Sharing the Service Order
Once your service order is complete, you can print the full plan (including the service order) with the Print button at the top of the plan page. This gives your team a complete rundown of the service, headed with your church's name and the plan's name. When Show Volunteer Names is on for the print, each section header also prints with the assigned volunteer's position next to it, so your team can see who's covering that section without opening the app. If a heading's position is overridden for specific services, the print shows every distinct position name it resolves to across the services on that plan (for example, "Worship Team / Youth Team").
