Notification Preferences

Notification preferences let you decide which notifications you receive from your church and how you receive them -- push notifications, email, or the in-app bell. You can fine-tune each type of notification, set quiet hours, or mute everything at once, all from one screen.

Opening Your Preferences​

  1. Open the Notifications area (the bell icon) in the B1 member app.
  2. Tap Notification Preferences.

Global Controls​

At the top of the screen you'll find settings that apply to everything:

  • Mute all -- Temporarily pauses all non-essential notifications.
  • Push notifications -- Turns push notifications on or off for your device.
  • Email frequency -- Choose how email notifications arrive:
    • Per notification -- Send an email as things happen.
    • Daily digest -- Bundle them into one daily email.
    • Never -- Don't send notification emails.
  • Quiet hours -- Set a start and end time (and your time zone) when you'd rather not be disturbed. Non-urgent notifications wait until quiet hours are over.

Choosing Notifications by Type​

Below the global controls is a grid of notification types. For each one you can turn on or off the channels you want:

  • Push -- A notification on your device.
  • Email -- A message to your inbox.
  • In-App -- The bell/badge inside the app.

Common types include Event Reminders, Serving & Schedule, Direct Messages, Group Chat, Prayer Requests, and Church Announcements. For example, you might keep push notifications on for Direct Messages but turn them off for Announcements.

A few notification types are always on and can't be turned off -- Account & Security, Giving Receipts & Statements, and Check-In Safety Alerts. These are required for your security and for legal reasons, so they show a small lock icon. Everything else is yours to control.

Some types are off by default (such as promotional or fundraising messages) and only reach you if you choose to opt in.

Saving Your Changes​

After adjusting your preferences, tap Save. Your changes take effect right away and apply everywhere you use B1.

Time-sensitive notifications -- like a security alert or a child check-in safety message -- still reach you even during quiet hours. Everyday updates wait until quiet hours end.
